3. Carbon Footprint

38.6 kg CO2e total

Total life-cycle carbon footprint of this battery (cradle-to-gate plus distribution, sample value).

76.6 kg CO2e / kWh

Per-kWh value: 38.6 kg CO2e ÷ 0.504 kWh of rated energy.

Carbon footprint classClass C (sample classification)
Raw material acquisition & pre-processing21.9 kg CO2e (56.7%)
Main production11.4 kg CO2e (29.5%)
Distribution3.8 kg CO2e (9.8%)
End-of-life & recycling1.5 kg CO2e (3.9%)

Methodology note: Calculated in line with the Commission’s battery carbon-footprint methodology under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, using sample primary data for cell production and secondary database values for upstream materials. Study reference: CF-VR500-2026-041 (sample). All figures are illustrative.

4. Recycled Content

Share of recycled material in active materials, by mass (sample values):

Cobalt16% recycled content
Lithium6% recycled content
Nickel8% recycled content
Lead0% — no lead in active materials (trace lead in electronics only)

Post-consumer recycled share is declared per material above; pre-consumer (process scrap) is tracked separately in the manufacturer’s technical documentation.

5. Materials & Composition

Lithium-ion cells (NMC)1.94 kg
Aluminium (housing & cathode foil)0.52 kg
Copper (anode foil & wiring)0.31 kg
Plastics (ABS/PC casing)0.38 kg
Steel & other metals0.14 kg
Electronics / BMS0.13 kg
Total3.42 kg

Critical raw materials (over 0.1% by weight)

Lithium (approx. 62 g), cobalt (approx. 118 g), nickel (approx. 342 g), natural graphite (approx. 286 g) and manganese (approx. 124 g) — sample values.

Hazardous substances

Electrolyte contains lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF6) in organic carbonate solvents, sealed inside cells. No mercury or cadmium intentionally added; cadmium < 0.002% and mercury < 0.0005% by weight. No substances of very high concern (SVHC) above 0.1% w/w declared for this sample other than the sealed electrolyte components noted in the safety data sheet (SDS-VR500-2026, sample).

Crossed-out wheeled bin symbol applies: do not dispose of in household waste.

Safety & extinguishing guidance

  • Do not puncture, crush, open or expose to fire or temperatures above 60°C.
  • If the battery smokes, swells or overheats: move away, do not use water on a burning lithium battery pack unless advised by emergency services; cool with copious water from a safe distance or use a Class D / lithium-rated extinguisher, and call emergency services.
  • Extinguishing agent information for responders: water spray for cooling, dry sand for containment of a small cell fire.
  • Use only the specified 42 V / 2 A charger. Do not charge unattended overnight.

End-of-life, collection & recycling

  • Return free of charge to any VoltRide Europe dealer, municipal collection point, or battery collection scheme in the EU member state of purchase.
  • Producer registration (sample): DE 88473920. Collection target and recycling information are provided under Articles 61–62 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
  • Before return, discharge where safe, tape the terminals, and keep the battery dry and undamaged.
  • Information for treatment facilities — dismantling: remove the 6 Torx T10 casing screws, disconnect the BMS lead first, then separate cells, aluminium housing and electronics for material-specific recycling. Full dismantling manual: DM-VR500-2026 (sample).

8. Supply-Chain Due Diligence

The economic operator (sample statement) maintains a battery due-diligence policy aligned with Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Chapter VIII, and OECD Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains. Cobalt, lithium, nickel and natural graphite are sourced only from suppliers assessed for human-rights, labour and environmental risks; high-risk sources are subject to third-party audit and grievance mechanisms.
